Vitor Belfort receives six-month medical suspension after defeat to Chris Weidman

Brazilian will only be released earlier, from July, if he presents satisfactory exams of his right shoulder

Vitor belfort may be away from fighting for a long time after his defeat to Chris Weidman at UFC 187, last Saturday (23). The Brazilian, who lost by technical knockout in the first round, received a six-month medical suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Belfort is expected to be out of fights until November 20th, due to an injury to his right shoulder. However, if he presents an orthopedic examination that rules out any more serious injury, he will be cleared to fight from July 7th.

The “Phenomenon” claimed that he injured his shoulder in the fall applied by Weidman in the initial moments of the fight. After that, the North American reached mount and concluded the fight with blows.
