After months and months of intense training, Vitor belfort is ready for the fight he will do in front of Chris Weidman, this Saturday (23), which will put the middleweight belt on the line in the co-main event of UFC 187. Well, he's almost ready: according to Gilbert Durinho, UFC lightweight and Belfort pupil, the “Phenomenon” still needs to adopt a more “psychopathic” mentality for the fight.
Belfort arrived last Monday (18) in Las Vegas, the location of the fight. Durinho states that the last adjustments to be made to the title challenger are of a psychological nature. “The plan is not to let the energy level drop so much. We have to relax, but we still have to make him a bit of a psychopath, we can't make him so relaxed. You have to relax, but you have to keep your reflexes up to date. All you have to do is say something and he'll have to look a bit like a goat. You still have to leave it on,” he commented, in an interview with the “Combat” channel’s website.
Durinho highlighted Belfort's determination during training and stated that, on Saturday, it will be time to reap the fruits of the intense work developed. “We are very excited, very confident. Vitor is a guy who really motivates me. With each training session I see his evolution and he is a guy who, without doing anything, already pushes me, just because of the way he trains and his focus and determination. Now everything is done. The grapes have already been crushed, now just relax, lose some weight. He's very dedicated, the weight is easy, so just enjoy it. Now it’s time to hibernate for a bit and look for that belt on Saturday,” he commented.
