Chris Weidman will defend his third UFC belt later this month, as a jiu-jitsu black belt. The middleweight champion of the largest MMA organization on the planet received his graduation last Tuesday night (5), from the hands of Renzo Gracie and Matt Serra, recognized “beasts” in ground fighting.
“I received my black belt from Renzo Gracie and Matt Serra. I'm honored and feel blessed to have these guys on my side. I'll be using it around for a long time. Thank you again, Renzo Gracie and Matt Serra, for your hard work”, wrote the fighter on his Twitter account.
Coming from wrestling, Weidman is undefeated in his professional MMA career, with 12 wins (three submissions). On May 23, the North American will try to defend his title once again at UFC 187, in Las Vegas (USA), when he faces Vitor belfort.
