The stripping of the UFC light heavyweight title from Jon Jones due to a controversial traffic mix-up, the general outlook of the main MMA organization on the planet changed. This is because the North American, only 27 years old, was approaching the record for consecutive successful title defenses, with eight, just two less than Anderson Silva, who held the middleweight belt ten times.

Now, “Spider” is more comfortable on the record list. His biggest threat at the moment is another Brazilian, José Aldo, who defended the UFC featherweight belt on seven occasions and is still in the position of champion, and could soon increase this number. His next fight will be in July, against Conor McGregor.
