Jones is yet another champion to lose his belt outside the Octagon; remember other cases

In the past, other prominent fighters have been stripped of their title as champions due to extra-octagon problems.

Jon Jones, the most dominant champion in the history of the competitive UFC light heavyweight division, lost his belt without even stepping into the Octagon. The North American was stripped of his title as champion after getting involved in a big mess last weekend, when he caused a traffic accident and fled without helping a pregnant woman, who was driving the car hit by the fighter.

After the recent controversy, Jones was suspended from fighting indefinitely, returning only when he has resolved his personal and legal problems. The belt in the under-93 kg division is now vacant, and the new champion will be defined next month, in the fight between Anthony Johnson e Daniel Cormier.
