fierce rival of Jon Jones long time, Daniel Cormier acted with class when he heard the news that the then UFC light heavyweight champion had been stripped of his belt and suspended indefinitely after being involved in a controversial traffic accident last weekend.

In his first reaction to the events, “DC” avoided criticizing the now former champion and sent a message of support to his rival, who will only return to the UFC when he has resolved his personal and legal problems.
“Let's not get things confused: this is a sad day for our sport. One of the best fighters of all time found himself surrounded by problems again. It sucks. Despite our differences, I truly wish Jon and his family all the best, and I know he is capable of getting through this,” said Cormier, in a statement sent to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
With the suspension given to Jones, it will be up to Cormier to fight against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187, next month, in a fight that will put the vacant light heavyweight belt at stake. “In life, opportunity knocks and it’s up to you to respond or not. So, I answered. I will be in Las Vegas on May 23rd, you can count on me, and I will win the belt. When Jon is ready to return, I will be happy to give him a chance to compete for my title.”
In an interview with “FOX Sports”, Cormier minimized Johnson's good form and stated that his next opponent is still the same fighter from the past. "After all, Anthony Johnson it is what it is.
