Jon Jones is wanted by police after car accident, says website

Fighter would have fled the scene of the accident without providing assistance to a 20-year-old pregnant woman; Police do not confirm arrest warrant

Jon Jones He hasn't yet found opponents inside the UFC octagon, but outside of it the fighter has been dealing with numerous problems. According to the North American website MMA Fighting, the light heavyweight champion is wanted by the police in Albuquerque, the city where he lives, to clarify a traffic accident. Jones allegedly fled the scene without providing assistance to the victim, a 20-year-old pregnant woman.

“We don’t know where Jon Jones it is. The victim was taken to hospital, but his life was not life-threatening. We cannot yet confirm whether Jon Jones is involved in the accident. We went to his house on Sunday night, but we didn't find him,” said Simon Drobik, a police spokesman in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The news of the accident created a series of rumors about Jones' involvement in the accident, a possible outstanding arrest warrant and even his withdrawal from the UFC 187 card, on May 23, when he will defend his belt against Anthony Johnson. However, nothing has yet been officially confirmed.

UFC releases statement

With the great repercussion of the case, the UFC released a short official statement. “We are aware that the City of Albuquerque Police wish to speak with Jon Jones about his possible involvement in a car accident. We are in the process of collecting data and will only comment when we have more information available.”

This is not the first time that Jon Jones gets involved in trouble outside the UFC. In 2012, the fighter was tried and lost his license for drunk driving and hit a post. In 2014, the champion was caught in a drug test for cocaine use. As the test was carried out outside the competition period, 'Bones', as he is known, was not suspended and entered rehabilitation.
