A new feature promises to help fighters and referees at UFC on FOX 15, an event that will take place this Saturday (18) in Newark, New Jersey (USA). The fights will be supported by replay snapshot on the big screens at the Prudential Center gym in order to avoid controversies like some that were seen in the UFC recently.

The information was confirmed by the New Jersey Athletic Control Committee, the body that will oversee the event, to the North American website “MMA Fighting”. The use of replay snapshot is something that has been studied for a long time by the entity, which put it into practice in 2007. Since September of last year, the committee has been experimenting with the tool in the events at which it endorses.

According to the report, details about its practical application on Saturday are still being finalized, but the chances of fighters being able to request the use of the replay, as happens, for example, in tennis and its “challenges”. The tool should be used between rounds, when a member of the committee has any doubts about a specific bid.

Recently, the subject was a topic of debate in the MMA community following the refereeing error made at UFC Fight Night 62, held in Rio de Janeiro last month. The mediator of the fight between Leandro Buscapé and Drew dober, Eduardo Herdy, incorrectly stopped the fight when he judged that the American had passed out due to a choke that was, in fact, disengaged. The fight did not continue and the Brazilian won, but the result was reversed to a no-contest by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA).
