New champion, Dos Anjos leaves Anderson Silva behind in official UFC rankings

Owner of the lightweight belt now occupies ninth position on the Ultimate weight-for-pound list

The dominant victory of Rafael dos Anjos about Anthony Pettis last Saturday (14), at UFC 185, the Brazilian's reputation in the world of MMA grew significantly. Proof of this is the new update to the UFC's official rankings, which now places Dos Anjos in ninth place in the weight-for-weight list, which includes athletes from all Ultimate categories.

In their first appearance in the rankings, Dos Anjos left established names behind, such as the former champions Anderson Silva, Renan Barao e John hendricks, And Vitor belfort. The best placed Brazilian is José Aldo, the second, which is only behind Jon Jones.

Pettis, who was dominated by Dos Anjos during the five-round fight, fell to tenth in the pound-for-pound rankings, losing five places. In his category, the damage was less: he still occupies first position, remembering that the category ranking leaves out the champions.
