In another fight linked to the main attraction, the Pettis family suffered their first defeat of the night. The champion's younger brother, Sergio, fought a balanced fight, but ended up defeated by Ryan Benoit via technical knockout in the second round.
Larrisa loses second and gets complicated
Brazilian Larrisa Pacheco signed with the UFC as champion of Jungle Fight and undefeated in his career. But his trajectory in Ultimate leaves something to be desired.
After debuting with a defeat to compatriot Jessica Bate-Estaca, Larissa needed to show her worth against Germaine de Randaime. But a performance below her potential could put her continuity in the organization at risk.
This Saturday night, at UFC 185, Germain de Randamie she owned the fight. She worked on her striking in the first round, hitting the Brazilian on several occasions, who, in turn, did not respond to the attacks. Without landing punches on her rival, Larissa summed up her performance by striking her own chin, in a sign of resistance to attacks.
In the second round, however, Pacheco ended up being knocked out. Germaine Randamie achieved victory after opening the way with an upper and combining with crosses. With no reaction from Larissa, the referee interrupted the confrontation and declared a technical knockout.
Pettis' brother loses
It may seem like a sign to Brazilians Rafael dos Anjos, but the Pettis family started UFC 185 with a defeat. Anthony's younger brother, Sergio couldn't resist Ryan Benoit.
After a balanced first round of striking, Benoit connected with a left blow on Pettis, who fell. Ryan went up and with several punches he achieved a technical knockout. After the referee intervened, the winner got excited and even kicked his fallen opponent in the buttocks. He regretted it and apologized in the interview.
