One of the greatest feats of Frankie Edgar was becoming lightweight champion while being incredibly low for the division. To give you an idea, today at featherweight, “The Answer”, as he is known, revealed that he could even move down to bantamweight if he wanted to. However, according to Edgar himself, who faces Urijah faber on May 16th in Manilla (Philippines), his desire is to remain in the under-66 kg category and go after the belt that currently belongs to the Brazilian José Aldo.

“I weigh around 71 to 73 kg normally, so it would be possible to go down. But I just don't know how I would react and how I would perform the next day. It's always good to have this trick up my sleeve if I want to change categories, or have a fight that appears and is interesting, but right now, my focus is on featherweight. I think (José) Aldo carries that mystique of being at the top for a long time. If I can be the guy who took that away from him, I think it would be much more rewarding”, said Edgar, to the North American website “Bloody Elbow”.

When asked about the fight between José Aldo e Conor McGregor, Frankie acknowledged the Irishman's rise, but made clear his preference for the Brazilian's triumph, aiming for a future challenge for the featherweight belt. “I don’t really have my eye on McGregor. If he wins the title, then he will be the guy I want to fight, but I would really prefer to take this belt from Aldo”, guaranteed the American.

At 33, Frankie Edgar has a professional record of 14 wins, four losses and one draw. “The Answer” was lightweight champion between 2010 and 2012. After losing the title and the rematch to Ben henderson, Edgar went down to bantamweight and ended up also losing for the featherweight belt. Since then, the North American has been undefeated and is currently ranked first in the official rankings of the 66 kg division. On May 16th, Frankie faces Urijah faber in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 66, in Manilla (Philippines).
