Thiago Silva replaces compatriot Vinny Pezão and faces Matt Hammil at WSOF 19

Due to problems with the regularization of another Brazilian, Vinny Pezão, the debut of Thiago Silva No. World Series of Fighting was brought forward to April. Amid a contractual dispute with his former event, Titan FC, Pezão was forced to leave his fight against Matt Hamill, valid for the light heavyweight category tournament, and ended up being replaced by Thiago, who now faces the North American at WSOF 19.

Information about the fight was released by the “MMA Fighting” website. The duel will mark the rematch of the last fight between both athletes, in October 2013. On that occasion, Thiago Silva beat Matt Hamill via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Fight Night Barueri. Since then, the athletes have not returned to action, and Thiago was involved in a major police scandal.

WSOF 19 takes place on March 28, in Phoenix (USA). In addition to the duel between Silva and Hamill, which will be the co-main fight of the night, the card features a lightweight belt dispute as the main event, with the champion Justin gaethje facing Peruvian challenger Luis “Baboon” Palomino.
