Former world boxing champion and undefeated in MMA, Holly holm sees his UFC debut surrounded by a lot of expectation. The North American, training partner of names like Jon Jones e alistair overeem, will make his first fight in the octagon this Saturday (28), at UFC 184, against Rachel Pennington. If she wins, the fighter will already be considered to possibly fight for the category belt. However, depending on Holm, the title fight will take a while longer.

With seven MMA fights under her belt, Holm admitted that she would like to gain experience before possibly challenging the category champion. “I have never said no to a fight or chosen an opponent, so if I was told that this would have to be my next fight, I would change my way of thinking and accept it. But if the decision were up to me, I would like to have more experience. I only had seven fights in total, and I'm honest: my opponents weren't very well ranked. It's not that I don't believe in myself, but would I like to have more fights? For sure. Because, when I face the champion, I want to do well. But, if the fight has to happen soon, I believe in myself,” she said, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

Despite keeping her feet on the ground regarding her future in the UFC, Holm is ambitious about her debut. “I want to impress, I want to show my skills, show power. I want to go out there and be aggressive. I don't have an exact strategy. We have more or less three strategies, and I want to feel which is best in the middle of the fight. If I see gaps, I'll go for it, but if I need to be patient, I'll be patient,” she said.
