The Brazilian, knocked out at 1min40s, guaranteed that he prepared for the fight in an ideal way and admitted the good work done by Mir. “Nobody wants to lose, but it’s part of the sport. One moment you smile, the next you cry. In the last fight [when he was knocked out by Andrei Arlovski, in Brasília in September 2014], I did a lot of things wrong, in my training, during the fight week. This time, I did everything exactly as it was supposed to be done, but it wasn't my day. It was his day. He was better, that’s all,” he said, at a press conference shortly after the fight.

Wearing a bandage on his ear, Pezão denied any possibility of having lost the power to absorb blows. “The blow he landed was right on my chin. All the knockouts I've had were from blows to the source. It's part of it. Frank hit first, he's a heavyweight, it happens. Sometimes I spend an entire fight taking punches, like what happened with Mark Hunt, but out of nowhere, you can get hit in the right place and fall. It was his merit”, argued the Brazilian, whose seven defeats he suffered, six of which were by knockout.
