UFC-105: Couture beats Vera to boos

UFC-105 recently ended in Manchester, England. The event, which did not feature Brazilians on the card, was the stage for a party for local athletes Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy, who surpassed Denis Kang and Mike Swick respectively. In the main fight of the night, amid protests from the audience, Randy Couture defeated Brandon Vera in a controversial decision by the judges.

Michael Bisping vs. Dennis Kang
Right at the beginning of the first round, Denis Kang managed to surprise Michael Bisping in striking and with a strong cross he led the Englishman to a knockdown. In the ground game, showing great efficiency in jiu-jitsu, the Canadian managed to pass guard and mount, putting the local athlete at risk. In the second round, after failing to impose himself in the standup, Michael sought the ground game and took down Kang, punishing his opponent with ground and pound. After getting up twice, the Canadian was knocked down again and with a strong sequence of punches, the referee stopped the fight.

Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick
In the fight that defined the next challenger for the welterweight title, the American Mike Swick and the Englishman Dan Hardy fought a standard fight in the first two rounds, with no movement and a lot of grappling in the clinch. Only in the last round did the English fighter manage to apply better blows and emerged victorious in the unanimous decision of the rounds.

Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera
The night's main attraction didn't have many emotions either. Using his old strategy, Randy pinned Vera to the fence and tried to strike at close range, in the second round the best moment of the fight, with a blow from Bradon, leading to the former champion being knocked down. In the last round, the fight was once again trapped within the bars. After fifteen minutes of little emotion and many boos, Couture took the victory. Check out the results:
