After three postponements, the duel between Vitor belfort e Chris Weidman it must happen exactly one year after its original date. Originally planned for the event preceding the Memorial Day (holiday that honors US war veterans) last year, the fight for the middleweight belt should take place in the 2015 edition of the card, UFC 187, which takes place on May 23, in Las Vegas (USA).

The information was released by the “Radar Online” column on the “ Veja ” magazine website. According to the publication, the agreement has already been sealed and will be announced in the coming days.
Vitor belfort would face Chris Weidman at UFC 184, in February, but the fight had to be suspended due to an injury to the champion. After receiving several offers from Ultimate, including a fight for the interim title against his compatriot Lyoto Machida, and denying them all, Vitor decided to wait for Weidman's recovery, who had already said that he would only be out for a few weeks and would be able to play in the next event available on the official calendar.
Due to statements from the organization's top management, UFC 187 was also speculated to be the event that would host the light heavyweight belt dispute between the champion Jon Jones and the challenger Anthony Johnson. So far, it is unknown whether the card would have two title fights or whether the fight between Jones and Johnson would be scheduled for another date.
Vitor belfort, 37 years old, has a professional record of 24 wins and ten losses. Without fighting since November 2013, the “Phenomenon”, as he is known, comes from three consecutive victories. Already Chris Weidman, 30 years old, is undefeated in MMA. The Ultimate middleweight champion has won all 12 of his fights and is coming off victories over the Brazilians Anderson Silva e Lyoto Machida.
