The year 2015 really started off turbulent for the UFC when it came to anti-doping tests. After cases involving names like Jon Jones, Nick Diaz e Anderson Silva, yet another prominent fighter was caught using banned substances. Hector Lombard, ranked fifth in the welterweight rankings, failed the test carried out after his last fight, when he defeated Josh Burkman at UFC 182, in early January.

The Cuban had the anabolic substance deoxymethyltestosterone, or DMT, detected in his body, which is one of the oldest steroids used by professional athletes. The information was obtained by the North American website “MMA Fighting” from the Nevada Athletic Commission, the body that inspected UFC 182.

Precisely for this reason, the fight that Lombard would fight against Rory McDonald, at UFC 186, in April, was cancelled. On “MMA Fighting”, the director of the Nevada Commission, Bob Bennett, revealed that the Cuban will soon have to give his explanations about what happened to the entity.

Lombard, 37 years old, is a former Bellator middleweight champion. He moved down to the welterweight division in 2013 and has won every fight he's had since then, against Nate Marquardt, Jake Shields and Burkman.
