“He (Anderson) has been fighting since he was 17, has had a career for many years and has never had any problems with it. Unfortunately, at the age of 39, and coming back from a very intense recovery, this problem occurs. I am absolutely sure that he is not to blame for anything. I think he must have used something at the doctor's orders. He was a victim of doping. It’s not this doctor’s first case, they need to see how the athletes are doing and who is causing these problems”, said Pezão, in an interview with the newspaper Extra.

Pezão also had problems with the doctor, who took care of Anderson during the recovery process. Tannure was responsible for the heavyweight's hormone replacement therapy (TRT). But, according to the fighter, he exaggerated the dosage of testosterone for his fight against Mark Hunt, in December 2013, and he ended up falling into doping.

“I requested authorization to replace the hormone, at the time, and was released. I completely knew what I was doing and had permission, but he (Tannure) gave me a higher dosage than my body needed. I don’t wish him harm, but I don’t want him on my side,” he added.
