With the intention of defending himself against doping accusations, after the publication of the results of tests carried out in January, which revealed traces of anabolic steroids, Anderson Silva and his team tried to have their countertest tested by a different laboratory than the one that carried out the first test. Spider's request, however, was promptly rejected by the Nevada Athletic Commission, as explained by the entity's director Bob Bennett.

“They (Anderson and his team) wanted the B sample to be analyzed in a second laboratory. We cannot accept it because this does not comply with WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) standards. However, we inform them that, if they want the retest to be carried out, they are invited to travel to Salt Lake City (where the laboratory responsible for the analysis is located), observe the B sample to ensure that it has not been contaminated, and wait until the results come out”, said Bennett, in an interview with the website of the North American channel “ESPN”.

PUBLICITY:

Without your request to have the test done in a new laboratory, Anderson Silva and his team are now awaiting the result of the countertest, which does not yet have an estimated date for release. Furthermore, the Brazilian's case will be judged by the Nevada Athletic Commission in a hearing to be held on February 17th. At this meeting, if doping is confirmed, possible punishments that the Brazilian may suffer will be discussed.
