The world of sports, especially MMA, was taken by surprise late Tuesday night (03) with the news that the former UFC champion Anderson Silva he had been caught in a surprise doping test due to the use of anabolic steroids. Spider has not yet officially commented on what happened since the information became public, but he spoke to his personal doctor, Dr. Márcio Tannure, who reported the current situation of the fighter, who claims his innocence and is now awaiting the result of the retest.

“He (Anderson) said he is very upset and disappointed because he claims he did not use it. So he believes that it could only have happened due to contamination or a laboratory error. He even said: 'I have an exemplary record in my career and I wouldn't want to tarnish my image”, said the doctor, in an interview with “Bandnews” radio.

Tannure also ruled out, a priori, that the result had anything to do with any medicine that Spider could have taken to recover from the fracture suffered in his left leg. “He could have taken it during the recovery process, it would even be one of the medical indications to help with recovery and mass gain, but he told me that he never used it at any time. And if during the recovery process he had also taken it, it would not appear, as it lasts around six to eight weeks in the body. So, it would have had enough time to no longer be in the body. So, I don’t believe this happened”, he analyzed.

Finally, the doctor classified any verdict on the case as premature, given that the process has not yet been closed with the Athletic Commission. “I think it is too early to make any judgment, because he has the right to a counter-test and after that two tests were carried out but the results were not released. And the Nevada Athletic Commission itself has not yet commented. And here the press is speaking out and crucifying the athlete without first having the final result. I think that for us to carry out a final analysis, and even for the Commission to make its decision, that's why they didn't comment, whether it would be a suspension or what measure would be taken, you have to wait for the rest of these exams”, he stated.

There is still no date for the results of the retest of the Anderson Silva be revealed. The trial of the former champion and Nick Diaz, who was also caught in anti-doping, but for using marijuana, was scheduled for a hearing on February 17th.
