The world of MMA went into shock in the early hours of this Wednesday (04), when it was announced that the Brazilian Anderson Silva had been caught in an anti-doping test due to the use of anabolic steroids before the victory over Nick Diaz at UFC 183, which marked his return to the Octagon after a serious fracture in his left leg. Shortly after the announcement, Cesar Gracie, Diaz's coach, also caught in a test for using marijuana, went public asking for a change in the result of the fight held last Saturday (31) in Las Vegas (USA).

“In my opinion, the result needs to be changed, because the guy used drugs that helped him in the fight. Silva is older, but if you need anabolic steroids to fight, then you shouldn't fight”, said Cesar, in an interview with the North American website “TMZ”.

Furthermore, when asked about the fact that his pupil had also been caught doing anti-doping, Cesar was emphatic and highlighted the difference between performance-enhancing substances and recreational drugs, such as marijuana. “Anyone with a bit of a brain knows that marijuana doesn’t increase performance,” he reasoned.

The case of Anderson Silva It has had international repercussions since the information became public through the Nevada Athletic Commission, responsible for the test, and was later confirmed by the UFC in an official statement. So far, the fighter or even anyone linked to him has not yet publicly commented on what happened.
