The dismissals were confirmed through the North American website “MMA Fighting”. In addition to Damm, they also left the biggest MMA event on the planet: Finnish Tom Niinimaki, Sean Soriano, Mike Rhodes and Croatian Igor Pokrajac, who has 12 fights experience in the organization.
Rodrigo Damm came from three consecutive defeats, the most recent of which was against Evan dunham, on January 3rd. Former challenger for the interim Strikeforce lightweight belt, Damm participated in TUF Brasil 1 and was among the group of athletes taken advantage of by the organization. However, in seven fights in the Octagon, there were only three wins and four losses for the Espírito Santo.
Just like Damm, Soriano, Rhodes and Niinimaki were also coming off three consecutive setbacks each, which cost them their stay in Ultimate. Igor Pokrajac was in an even worse situation, whose record in the last five fights is four defeats and one fight without result – which he had originally lost, but saw the decision reversed after his opponent was found to be taking an anti-doping test.
