Jon Jones broke his silence and spoke for the first time after being caught for using cocaine during the preliminary anti-doping test, the fight against Daniel Cormier. After the UFC revealed that the fighter's post-fight tests were clean and that the light heavyweight champion would be fined just US$25, for having violated the Athletes' Code of Conduct, 'Bones' opened the game.

In an interview with the FOX Sports TV channel, which will air this Monday (19), Jones assured that he is not an addict or a frequent drug user. According to the champion, he was just 'caught off guard'.
“It was a really embarrassing situation. I had to explain to so many people that I am not a cocaine addict in any way, not even a frequent user”, guaranteed Jones, in an excerpt released by the channel. “I just made a really dumb decision and I was really caught off guard with this whole situation,” he added.

Caught in an anti-doping test carried out on December 4th with benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite of cocaine, Jon Jones was kept on the UFC 182 card, in which he faced Daniel Cormier, because this is not a substance banned by the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) outside the competition period.
On January 3rd, at the MGM Grand Garden, Jones won Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision of the judges after five very busy rounds and retained his belt for the eighth consecutive time, a record in the light heavyweight category. With the triumph, “Bones”, as he is known, also remained at the top of the weight-for-weight ranking, which does not take categories into account.
