Ronda Rousey is already a pop phenomenon. The first female champion in the history of the UFC, in addition to the octagon, the blonde is now in fashion campaigns, in cinema and on television. For this reason, and a little more, Lorenzo Fertitta, one of the owners of Ultimate, has no doubts in saying: Ronda is the most impressive athlete in the history of the largest MMA organization on the planet.

“Ronda has been the most impressive athlete I have ever worked with here at the UFC. I place it up there, among the best of the best”, said the CEO, in an interview with the North American website “Yahoo Sports”. “I feel like this is a seminal moment, not just in sport, but in culture as a whole and this movement is being led by Ronda Rousey. It's female empowerment. I mean, who's to say 'why can't a girl be a fighter'? Why can't a girl be successful in sports like other athletes are? Why Ronda Rousey can’t she be the biggest and most popular athlete in combat sports? And that’s her whole attitude and that’s why she’s getting there,” he added.

The director also made a point of highlighting that Ronda's example could have repercussions on all women's sports and highlighted that, in his opinion, the UFC's bet on the blonde was also an important part of this process. “She (Rousey) is paving the way, and I think that what’s happening among women in sports, the most interesting story, and the most important story in sports is in the UFC, because we embrace that,” he pondered.

At 27, Ronda Rousey has a professional record of ten wins and no defeats. Former champion of the extinct Strikeforce and current holder of the Ultimate title, “Rowdy”, as she is known, won all her fights by knockout or submission, eight times with her traditional armbar and another two by technical knockout. Ronda returns to action on February 28th, in Los Angeles (USA), when she faces the also undefeated Zingano cat in the co-main fight of UFC 184, which features a middleweight title fight between Vitor belfort e Chris Weidman as the main event.
