Cigano receives six-month medical suspension after battle with Miocic

Brazilian, one of eight UFC on FOX 13 athletes to receive a half-year period, could be released earlier with exams

The tough battle before Stipe Miocic at UFC on FOX 13, in December last year, it could cost dearly junior gypsy. The Brazilian received a six-month medical suspension according to the list released this Tuesday (13) by the Arizona MMA and Boxing Commission.

Cigano, who, despite having won the fight by the judges' decision, left with a badly bruised face, could spend 180 days without fighting. He will only be released before this period if a CT scan shows that there are no more serious injuries. In any case, Cigano will remain without physical contact for at least 45 days due to a cut on his eyebrow. Miocic was suspended for 45 days, without physical contact for 30 days.

However, Cigano was not the only one to receive a half-year sentence from the commission. Matt Mitrione, Joe Riggs, John Moraga, Jamie Varner, Joe Ellenberger, Henry Cejudo and Anthony Birchack also received similar suspensions, although there are some caveats: Varner announced his retirement from MMA, and Cejudo has already been confirmed for UFC 185, when he faces Chris Cariaso.
