The big day that Brazilian fans have been waiting for has arrived. Two Brazilians face each other tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, for the title of the most hotly contested category in world MMA. The main fight of UFC-104 will feature the Bahian based in Pará, Lyoto Machida defending his 15-fight unbeaten record and the UFC light heavyweight belt against the Curitiba native and former Pride champion Mauricio Shogun.
"Lyoto Machida captured the imagination of fans with his knockout against Rashad evansbut Mauritius Shogun he has enough tools to overcome any light heavyweight. He's coming off a knockout against Chuck Liddell, so his self-confidence is through the roof. This fighter has the potential to be one of the best ever,” said UFC president Dana White.
UFC-104 also features another Brazilian on the main card, Gleison Tibau from Rio Grande do Norte will face American Josh Neer, in a fight in the lightweight category. Check out the full event card:
