For more than a month, Carla esparza was confined in a house with 15 other fighters during the recording of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter 20 and had to overcome three opponents in the period to reach the big decision. On December 12th, the North American won Rose namajunas in the final of the program and became the first strawweight champion in UFC history. After so much effort, Esparza decided to splurge on his celebration and bought the most expensive sundae in the world, according to the Book of Records: the “Golden Opulence Sundae”, which costs a trifle of US$ 1000 (approximately R$ 2700 reais, at the current price ).

As taxes are paid separately in the United States, Carla paid another US$88,75 (around R$240 reais) in fees, bringing the total value of her bill closer to R$3000. The coupon from The new champion's little extravaganza was captured in photos by her on social media. On its official page on Instagram, Carla also released images of her visit with her friend Felice herrig, also a TUF participant, to the restaurant Serendipity 3, in New York (USA), which serves the “Golden Opulence Sundae”.
Want to understand why “Golden Opulence Sundae” costs so much? The special dessert is described as “a sundae made using three to five scoops of rich Tahitian vanilla ice cream, infused with Madagascar vanilla and topped with edible 23-karat gold leaves. The chocolate syrup used is Amadei Porcelana melted, one of the most expensive chocolates in the world; and covered with pieces of rare chocolate wow, made from cocoa beans harvested in the Caribbean Sea, off the coast of Venezuela.” The description continues with exotic fruits from Paris, golden almonds and a type of caviar typical for desserts sweetened with passion fruit, orange and Armagnac. The finishing touch is a sugar flower, sprinkled with more edible gold flakes.
The fighter also commented on the celebration on social media. “Yes, that really cost a thousand dollars! And for those who think it was a waste, I rarely buy extravagant things. I'm not buying an expensive $60 car, a $10 watch, a $2 drink in a nightclub or anything like that, this is something unique from that list of things you want to do to celebrate not just the achievement of the TUF title and the UFC belt, but for the years of hard work I put in to get to this point. Fighting sometimes without money, recognition or respect. It wasn't an overnight success, it was a long and hard journey. I’m absolutely happy that women’s MMA has come this far,” she celebrated.
At 27, Carla esparza has a professional record of ten wins and two losses. Before winning the inaugural UFC strawweight belt, Esparza was the champion of the all-female Invicta FC event.
