Roufus, who is the head coach of the likes of Anthony Pettis and Ben Askren, considers that CM Punk has all the necessary tools to stand out in MMA, despite his lack of experience. “He already trained a little in karate and has been working with the Gracie family. It will be hard? Yes, but I wouldn't get involved in this if I didn't think he could do it. I think he can do it”, analyzed Roufus, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Mania”.
“The cool thing is that I know Phil [Brooks, CM Punk's real name] and I know the type of person he is. He is unique, both for his mentality and for the person he is. I'm excited to work with him. Knowing the type of person he is, I think he will surprise a lot of people”, said the coach.
CM Punk, 36 years old, is expected to make his UFC debut in mid-2015, although neither date/venue nor opponent have been confirmed.
