Sparks, who competes in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 pounds), was fired this weekend and remains in the Monroe County jail with bail set at $250. He will have to answer in court for rape, false imprisonment, assault causing bodily harm and robbery.
The athlete has a professional MMA record of seven wins and two losses, and his last fight was held in 2012. This year, Sparks participated in the TUF 19 tryouts, but was defeated in the fight that would give him a place inside the house. Still in the first round, he was submitted by Patrick Walsh with a kimura.
Sparks' case is one of the many controversies involving MMA fighters and the police in 2014. Just this year, they were arrested Thiago Silva, Homer Moore, Renzo Gracie, Josh Grispi, War Machine, Jason Miller e Joe vedepo.
