About to make his eighth UFC belt defense, Jon Jones appears to be unimpressed with the abilities of Daniel Cormier. After stating that he will not run away from his rival's wrestling, the light heavyweight champion downplayed Cormier's latest victory, achieved over Dan Henderson in may.

According to Jones, “DC’s” triumph is not a parameter to measure success in the fight that will win the belt. “His last fight was against Dan Henderson. You beat a guy who is 50 years old, and now you are going to face a 27-year-old, who will get there weighing 103 kg, healthy, young, athletic”, said Jones, in a statement given to the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”. “If he thinks that victory over Dan Henderson will give him some sense of security that he will reign at light heavyweight, unfortunately he is wrong.”
