After recently suffering his third serious knee injury, Dominick Cruz refused to be discouraged and assured that he will do everything he can to return to the UFC with more strength than before.

The American, who was out of fights for almost three years after hurting his left knee, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training on December 9th. When he tried to throw a kick with his left leg, the fighter felt a pop in his right leg, and immediately knew he was injured. However, Cruz only became aware of the extent of the injury shortly before leaving for Brazil, last week, for UFC Barueri promotional activities.
Despite the new setback, Cruz assured that he views the episode positively. “Why can't I come back and be stronger than ever? In my head, I have no doubt that I can do it. I truly believe that once I get my right knee fixed, it will be stronger than before. I'm basically going to have two new knees”, said the fighter, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
“It’s another mountain to climb. I am fully capable of climbing this mountain. I have all the resources, I'm the age and I have the mentality to deal with this. I get over it by thinking about the people who actually have real problems. I still have a job, I'm still in the UFC, I still have a job at FOX, I can still go to the gym and help others get better, I can still come back and fight and win,” he commented.
Cruz will undergo surgery on his injured knee on January 15th. He hopes to be able to fight again in 2015, between July and October.
