Brazil has eight representatives nominated for the MMA Awards, the Oscar of world MMA. Despite not having any athlete selected among the best fighters of the year, the country was still represented in another prominent category. Herica Tiburcio, Invicta FC atomweight champion, is competing for the best fighter of 2014 award.

At 21 years old and with a professional history of nine wins and just two losses, the Minas Gerais native is competing for the most important trophy in the women's category with the UFC muse Ronda Rousey, the new Ultimate strawweight champion Carla esparza, And Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Aguilar.
Among the other Brazilian nominees, Rafael Cordeiro defends last year's title as best coach. The leader of “Kings MMA” tries to maintain the lead among the coaches against: Ray Longo, head coach Chris Weidman; Duane Ludwig, former head of Team Alpha Male; Javier Mendez, coach of Cain Velazquez at AKA; and Edmond Tarverdyan, mentor of Ronda Rousey.
What's new for the country in 2014 is the nomination of Jhenny Andrade from São Paulo for the best ring girl of the year award. The blonde, who debuted in the octagon in August 2013, at UFC Rio 4, competes with Carly Baker, Jade Bryce, as well as the already renowned Arianny and Celeste Brittney Palmer
