Greg Jackson: “Rashad wants a rematch with Lyoto”

Rashad evans will be fully prepared to face Lyoto if they meet again in the Octagon, said his trainer Greg Jackson. The American lost his belt to Machida in May this year when he was knocked out. But Jackson would like a second try for his protégé in the near future.

“I would love to get a rematch with Machida as soon as possible. Obviously no one will agree with me, but I'm an optimist,” said Greg.

Asked about Evans' defeat and whether it unsettled him, Jackson said: “Nobody makes me lose sleep, that's fun. But I worry a lot when my students lose, especially when I know it was my fault or I feel like I made a mistake.”

“You can't run away from Lyoto Machida, it is obvious that he is an extraordinary fighter. I always absorb defeats personally, but I'm not crying every night about it”, explained the coach to the American website Fighters Only Magazine.

Jackson also stated that he and Rashad are preparing a fight plan, reviewing the mistakes from the first fight. "Yes of course. It's a new day, learn, learn and learn. I’m a little slow, but I learn,” he said with a laugh. “You always have to look at the little details, that’s all I can say,” he added.
