This Saturday (13), in Phoenix (USA), Junior Gypsy returned to the octagon after almost 14 months of absence. The Brazilian had a bad time against the North American Stipe Miocic in the main fight of UFC on FOX 13, but ended up with the victory after a five-round marathon.
Mostly based on boxing, the duel between Cigano and Miocic even had some moments in which it was fought in the clinch or even on the ground, but the main highlight was the striking. A left cross in the third round, connected to the American's chin, changed the dynamics of the confrontation and sealed the fate of the fight in favor of the Brazilian, who dominated the final stages to be declared the winner by unanimous decision of the judges.
With the new triumph, Cigano now has a professional record of 17 wins and three losses. The former heavyweight champion is second in the category's official ranking, behind only the lineal champion Cain Velazquez of the interim belt holder Fabricio Werdum.
