Lawler has faced Hendricks twice, both times with the title on the line. In March, he lost in a tight decision by the judges, and last Saturday (6), he got revenge and came out victorious. He also faced MacDonald last year, defeating the Canadian on points as well.

“I have a lot of confidence in my abilities and I think if we fought again, I would win. Johny is a great fighter, a great competitor, and I'm looking forward to facing him again. Now that we have a victory for each side in two close fights, I think we need to break the tie”, commented Lawler, in an interview with the North American website “Sherdog”.

However, Lawler placed the decision regarding his first challenger in the hands of the UFC. “If the bosses think a fight with MacDonald makes sense, I'm sure they'll make it happen. But I'm resting now. I'm not even thinking about it. I'm sure the UFC bosses will think about it and see what will happen”, he concluded.
