SUPER FIGHTS celebrates its 7th anniversary this week

Hail, hail friends of SUPER FIGHTS. Many events have marked the sporting world in the last seven years. During this period, MMA built a unique trajectory. From 2007 to the present day, new champions were consecrated, rivalries were immortalized, myths were debunked, the UFC established itself among the most valuable companies in the market and Japan's downfall on the international scene became inevitable.

Accompanied by these and other events, the creation of the website met a new generation of fans of mixed martial arts. When I debuted as a writer, fans still had a wider range of events that contributed to this “boom” in the sport in recent years. Cases such as, for example, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), Strikeforce, Affliction, Dream, among others. Since then, many chapters of this story have been written inside and outside the rings and octagons.

Among the most striking cases, I highlight the legacy that Anderson Silva built within the UFC; the return of Wanderlei Silva to Ultimate and his recent retirement after ups and downs in the event; the domain of Georges St Pierre in the welterweight division; the reign of Jon Jones among light heavyweights; the unprecedented series of three consecutive defeats of Fedor Emelianenko between 2010 and 2011; and, to close this humble list – which could go on for a few more paragraphs –, the arrival of women at the biggest event in the world led by Ronda Rousey.

Now, in this new cycle, driven by the popularization of MMA and the public's growing demand for information in real time, the site maintains its commitment to providing readers with quality content combined with credibility, two of its trademarks. Through debates on social networks, podcasts and forums, interactivity is increasingly present, a fact that contributes to strengthening the bond with internet users. The journey continues. May another seven, ten, 20 years come. Long live the SUPER FIGHTS
