Over time, Ronaldo Jacare has become one of the most complete fighters in the UFC middleweight division. Consecrated in jiu-jitsu, the Brazilian has been showing sharp striking, having already knocked out the tough guy Yushin Okami inside the octagon.
However, in his next fight, against Yoel romero, at UFC 184, Jacaré will return to his roots and try to use his ground game to beat the Cuban. “He is well ranked in the category and is coming off good victories. He is a very strong and explosive athlete. Regarding the fight, I think it will be a tough and closely contested duel. He's a very strong guy in wrestling and I also intend to use my ground skills. I think I can beat anyone with my jiu-jitsu. And that’s what I’m going to take to this fight”, commented the Brazilian.
Coming from four consecutive victories in the UFC, Jacaré believes that a victory over Romero will qualify him for a title shot. “Belfort and Weidman are going to face each other and if I were to wait for them to fight, I would have to wait approximately nine months and that wasn't in my plans. Dana White was right when he said I would have to do one more fight. I have to focus a lot on the next opponent, who is very tough in the division. After this fight I will be ready to fight for that belt,” he said.
The fight between Jacaré and Romero will take place at UFC 184, in Los Angeles (USA), on February 28th. In the main fight of the night, Chris Weidman e Vitor belfort They will fight for the middleweight belt, the same category in which Jacaré operates.
