If the press conference called by the UFC this Monday (17) was disappointing due to the absence of the big announcement promised by the organization, the heated atmosphere between the fighters starring in the upcoming cards was the big highlight of the night. One of the most controversial moments of the event was the confrontation between Vitor belfort e Chris Weidman, in which the Brazilian displayed a shirt with the inscription “I’m ready” in a provocation towards his rival. Dissatisfied with the challenger's attitude, Weidman vented his feelings after the press conference and blasted Vitor.

“I don't know what he was doing. I had no idea what was written on the t-shirt. Seeing him do this just made me think even more about how I'm going to beat him on February 28th. I'm going there to completely dominate you. If I don't do this, it will be a defeat for me. He is a cheater and I will destroy him completely. This fight is personal. He's trying to take my belt, he's already been caught cheating and I'm not going to let a pumped-up cheater take my belt. We have often seen him shake in big fights. Maybe he was shaking because he’s a pump and was afraid of getting tired”, said Weidman, in an interview given to the “Combate” channel website.

During the press conference, Belfort said he would avoid exchanging barbs, the famous trash talk, but, according to Weidman, Brazilian attitudes go against this. “He was there today (in the interview) saying he doesn’t talk nonsense, but he was the one who started it. I wanted to interrupt him at that point in the press conference, but I didn't remember that. He was the one who, when I got injured, said that I wanted to keep the belt until Christmas, basically calling me a liar and implying that I was faking an injury”, complained the champion.

Finally, the American once again poked at his rival for his recent problems with anti-doping tests and suggested that he hopes to see Belfort tested more often until the day of the duel, but that this does not interfere with the duel taking place. “I hope he is tested leading up to the fight, but I also hope he doesn't get caught. It's hard to think about what to expect at this point. Now that he's already been tested once, I'm worried about whether he passed the test. He's the guy I want to face, he's the fight I want. If something happens in anti-doping and he doesn't fight, I'll be very upset”, he guaranteed.
