But, despite the great outcome, victory did not come easily. In the third round, Patrício suffered a knockdown from his opponent and almost saw his belt fall into the hands of the Canadian. However, the Brazilian showed his warrior spirit, withstood the pressure and came back in style, with a sequence of punches, elbows and knees to knock out his rival.
“I always think I can do more after reviewing my fights, but I liked the way it ended. I'm even thinking about letting my next opponents land a clean blow on me right at the beginning of the fight from now on, to get that activated right from the start (laughs)”, joked the champion.

“In training the day before the weigh-in, in a simple movement, my back locked up and my arms went numb. I thought it might be related to my surgery. It was something surreal, because I didn't feel anything during the camp for the fight against Jesus or in the weeks since then. I spoke to my doctor, he told me that it had nothing to do with the neck injury, he prescribed some medication, I did a lot of physical therapy and prayed. On the day of the fight I wasn't fully recovered, I still had limitations, but I trained well and decided to fight”, he explained.
With the triumph and maintenance of his title, Patrício has now outlined his next focus. Although he has the desire to face champions from other organizations, the native of Rio Grande do Norte revealed who his next opponent should be.
“I think we have to do this fight (against the PFL champion), but there is a new GP happening and in the PFL the champion is per season, so I don't know what that looks like. Aaron Pico is next in line at Bellator, I believe this will be my next fight. I want to do a rematch against Chihiro (Suzuki), especially now that he is Rizin champion, with both of our belts at stake. If it were up to me alone, I would do these three more fights this year, but due to the schedule of events I don’t know if that will be possible”, he added. Patrick Pitbull.
