So far, 2014 has been a nightmare for the UFC in terms of sales. pay-per-view in the United States. The published number of packages sold is low compared to what has been seen in previous years, with 2014 recording the two worst performances in nine years with events 174 and 177.

However, UFC president Dana White was not concerned about the statistics. Despite recognizing the organization's poor sales season, the director states that the various events held around the world are the basis for stronger years in the future.

“Yes, this year has been bad in sales of pay-per-view, but the business doesn't work the way most people think. Believe me, we love pay-per-view. When big events happen, the numbers will improve, but we are much more than a company that sells pay-per-view”, explained White, to the website “Sports Business Daily”.

“Every time we go to other countries, it creates more and more base. We hear all these bad things in the United States because they don't understand the entire global strategy, but we are growing in these other countries”, added the leader.

To date, the event with the biggest sales in 2014 was UFC 175, in July, which recorded approximately 500 thousand packages purchased. The number is still far from the organization's absolute record, with 1,6 million sales at UFC 100, in 2009.
