Held last night at the Paulo Sarasate gym, in Fortaleza, the thirteenth edition of Shooto Brasil featured national MMA stars and very balanced fights. Returning to fight in Brazil since leaving the UFC, Alexandre Baixinho had difficulties, but managed to beat Sergio Junior by referee decision.
In the fight for the South American belt under 76kg, Luis Beição defeated Igor Chatubinha, by decision of the judges and became the new champion. For the under-83kg belt, Carlos Índio surprised André Chatuba and knocked out the Minotauro Team athlete with a high kick.
In the main fight of the night, valid for the Shooto world belt, Brazilian Leandro Batata challenged the current 83kg champion, Siyar Bahadurzada, but after a series of punches, the Dutch-born Afghan managed to knock the Brazilian down and punished Batata on the ground and pound until the referee stopped it. 77kg: Alexandre Baixinho (Carlson Gracie) beat Sergio Junior (Hikari) in the judges’ decision;
