Monster runs over in 31 seconds and Thomas Almeida maintains unbeaten record at UFC Uberlândia

On the preliminary card, Caio Monstro scored his second consecutive victory in less than a minute, while Thomas promises to make some noise in the bantamweight division

the ceará Gaius Monster and the paulista Thomas almeida stole the show on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 56, an event held on Saturday night (08), in Uberlândia, in the interior of Minas Gerais. Monstro needed just 31 seconds to knock out Trevor Smith, while Thomas proved he can make some noise in the bantamweight division, maintained his unbeaten record and defeated Tim Gorman.

Gaius Monster proved once again that the sport is in full evolution and that training with beasts like junior gypsy e Glover Teixeira are being quite productive. Facing the American Trevor Smith, the athlete from Ceará needed just 31 seconds to achieve the knockout.

As soon as the fight started, Caio closed the distance and began the punishment with good combinations of blows. Smith cowered, tried to defend himself, but was caught with a powerful knee. The North American fell and the Brazilian went up and connected several blows from above until he achieved victory

This is the second fight in a row that Caio has won in less than a minute. At UFC on FOX 11 in April, he needed 44 seconds to beat Luke Zachrich.

Thomas almeida debut well in UFC

The bantamweight Thomas almeida He showed that he can make some noise in the UFC. Undefeated in MMA, he showed his stand-up technique to fight a great battle against Tim Gorman. The North American started the fight with everything, closing the distance, connecting punches and managing to staple the Brazilian's legs. Even on the ground, Thomas got up quickly, but ended up giving way on his back. The Chute Boxe de São Paulo athlete defended the choke and managed to free himself from the 'backpack'.

Back to striking, Thomas put on a show. He combined hand strikes with powerful knees and took control of the fight. He was close to ending the fight at the end of the first half. But Gorman managed to survive.

Thomas was superior again in the second round. The Brazilian repeated the game of punches and plastic knees. In turn, Gorman responded with constant attacks with well-placed jabs.

In the third round, Tim Gorman tried to repeat the tactic from the beginning of the fight and went all out. However, Almeida left the range of action and returned to control of the fight. He maintained momentum in his striking with good moments and coming close to a knockout on some occasions. At the end of 15 minutes, victory for Thomas almeida in the unanimous decision of the judges (30,×27, 30×27, 29×28).

Buscapé wins desperate duel against Brenneman

With two defeats in two stints in the UFC, Leandro Buscapé entered the octagon pressured to win. In a desperate duel against Charlie Brenneman, who was coming from two consecutive setbacks, the Brazilian managed the submission and survived the event.

Brenneman started the fight and soon attempted a takedown and took the fight to the ground. With a powerful elbow to the forehead, the North American made a huge bump on the Brazilian's forehead. But Leandro showed a lot of courage, recovered, and got out of the disadvantaged position.

After getting a takedown, Buscapé quickly got to his back, locked in a rear naked choke and forced his rival to give up the fight.

Wagnão loses and gets complicated

The first Minas Gerais to climb into the octagon was defeated at home. The TUF Brasil 3 participant, Wagnão Gomes couldn't escape the clinch game and takedowns Colby covington. The North American dominated the contest in the first few rounds until finishing with a rear naked choke in the third round.

The defeat marked Wagnão's second setback in the UFC, and he is at risk of being fired from the organization.
