Dealing with failure is never easy. But for great athletes, it is precisely the setbacks that teach the greatest lessons. Despite this, UFC bantamweight Marcus Brimage decided to completely ignore this maxim when he vented about the controversial decision that culminated in his defeat to Russell Doane, last July, and ended up making one of the most unfortunate statements in MMA in recent times.

“You can definitely quote me on what I'm going to say: The Nevada Athletic Commission judges should do everyone a favor and kill themselves and invite everyone to the funeral,” Brimage said in an interview with Bleacher Report. “That fight against Russell Doane, it was blasphemy, man! I've watched this fight so many times and I just can't see how I lost this fight.”
Marcus Brimage's impulsive words could end up costing him dearly. The UFC has a strict code of conduct for its athletes and often punishes fighters under contract for public statements that cause controversy. Despite this, to date, the organization has not commented on what happened. Meanwhile, Brimage, who has a professional record of six wins and three losses, continues to prepare to face Jumabieke Tuerxun on November 8th, at UFC Fight Night 55, in Australia.
