For many years, since the last decade, Anderson Silva x Georges St Pierre it was the biggest fight to be promoted by Ultimate and became almost an obsession for fans. With both athletes away from MMA since the end of last year, however, the possibility seemed increasingly unlikely. However, just a few months before returning to the Octagon, it was up to Spider himself to rekindle the hope of a duel against the Canadian former welterweight champion.

During an interview with the North American channel “FOX Sports” last weekend, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Anderson left the door open for a superfight against St. Pierre when asked by journalist Ariel Helwani about his interest in the fight. “Yes, maybe, who knows. I find it interesting”, said the Brazilian, who also left a message for GSP. “George, I respect you, man. When you get back, good luck. Oss!” he stated.

Furthermore, Spider revealed what it has been like to have the fans' attention back and was very satisfied with the Brazilian public's approach. “Every time people talk to me and ask me 'when are you coming back? Will you come back to fight for the belt?', I say: 'First is to come back. When I come back then comes the second, third or fourth steps'. But I'm very happy with the way people have talked to me, my legacy, the way they respect my legacy. I’m very eager to return, to fight, because that’s my power and my energy”, he commented.

At 39, Anderson Silva has a professional record of 33 wins and six losses. Now with a new contract with Ultimate, for another 15 fights, Spider returns to the Octagon on January 31st, in the main fight of UFC 183, in Las Vegas (USA). On that occasion, Anderson will face the former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz, in a fight valid for the middleweight category.
