The case of aggression by former UFC fighter Josh Grispi against his wife was the subject of the television program “Dr. Phil” on Thursday night (30). In the show run by psychologist Phil McGraw, dedicated to resolving relationship problems of different types, Kaitlyn Grispi came to her husband's defense and stated that the case gained a greater proportion than she should have.

In August, Grispi was arrested after allegedly beating his wife and sending his pet pit bull to attack her. The police commissioner who oversaw the case even considered the episode to be the worst involving domestic assault he had ever seen. The fighter remains in prison pending judgment in the case.

Kaitlyn Grispi stated that Josh is not an aggressive person and that, despite everything that happened, he should not remain in jail. “I would describe Josh as a great father, a great husband, a caring, hard-working husband. Josh is a loving and sweet person. He doesn't belong in jail. He's not normal, but it's safe for him to be loose. The police are trying to escalate it into a family fight because Josh was linked to the UFC,” said his wife.

In August, Josh was arrested twice on charges of assaulting Kaitlyn. However, she avoids blaming her husband for the episodes. “The first few times there was physical aggression, it was actually my fault. I provoked Josh and made him very angry because I wouldn't stop talking. That’s when he hit me and I got a black eye and a bloody lip,” she described.

“My mother took photos of me when I was attacked. She went to the police and showed them the photos, which caused the police to show up. Even though I didn't want Josh to go to jail, he was in jail for a few hours. The next night we argued again. I hid, but he found me. When I went to the bathroom, he broke down the door and hit me on the head a few times. At this moment, my dog was running like a little child and got into the middle. He bit me on my right leg and Josh grabbed him by the collar. When the dog was arrested, I went to a neighbor's house and she called the police,” he continued.

After a successful stint in the now-defunct WEC event, defeating the likes of Mark hominick and Jens Pulver (former UFC champion), Grispi was scheduled to face José Aldo for the UFC featherweight belt, in a fight that would take place on January 1, 2011. However, the Brazilian was injured and was replaced by Dustin poirier, who prevailed in the judges' decision.

The result triggered a bad phase for Grispi in the UFC, who then also lost to George Roop, Rani Yaya and Andy Ogle. After four consecutive losses, Grispi was fired from the UFC.
