After surprising part of the fans by indicating his desire to train with Israel adesanya in the future, Alex Poatán explained the plans. In an interview with 'The MMA Hour', the UFC champion argued about the possibility of exchanging knowledge with the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.). Despite the new relationship with the Nigerian star, the Brazilian does not rule out a trilogy in Ultimate.
"Anything could happen. Perhaps the organization is interested (in promoting a new fight). I'm here, but I think the rivalry is over. I don't know. I would even train with him if I had the opportunity. He has a lot of experience. He has done a lot and I am also experienced. There are two styles that have similarities, but some differences that can enhance our qualities”, said Poatan.

Even though he guarantees a good relationship with Adesanya, Alex is adamant when it comes to the possibility of a new challenge with the former middleweight champion. After winning the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg.) at the end of 2023, the São Paulo native challenged his former opponent to a confrontation in the new category.
“I really wanted to face him, but honestly, I think it's over now. I tried to make the fight. It was my belt that was at stake”, he concluded.
Holder of the light heavyweight title, Poatan has a date and opponent for his first title defense. On April 13, at UFC 300, the Brazilian will share the octagon with Jamahal hill and will try to maintain its reign in the category.
