After five rounds of action in one of the best fights of 2014, UFC Rio 5 literally left marks on José Aldo. After the battle against Chad Mendes last Saturday (25), the featherweight champion appeared in a photograph with trainer Pedro Rizzo without the glasses he displayed at the press conference and his face was badly treated and his left eye was practically closed due to swelling.

Aldo's left eye was the target of at least two involuntary fingerprints from Chad Mendes during the combat, which caused a cut to be opened in the region, and the condition worsened even further after some blows suffered in the area, such as some crosses and uppercuts that destabilized the Brazilian throughout the regulatory 25 minutes.

But the marks of battle will serve as a reminder José Aldo of the historic night of October 25th at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho, when Manauara once again beat the North American Chad Mendes by unanimous decision of the judges and defended the UFC featherweight belt – the last remaining title in Brazil. Now, Aldo has a professional record of 25 wins and just one loss. The Nova União athlete has been undefeated since November 2005 and since then has won 18 consecutive victories, seven of them as UFC featherweight champion.
