Ultimate's newest featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg), Ilia Topuria shared an emotional message after the historic feat in UFC 298. On his Instagram profile, the Spaniard posted a motivational post and took the opportunity to send a message to Alexander Volkanovsky, category icon dethroned over the weekend.
“Many will say you won’t make it. They will bring you down and doubt you. However, remember: the only thing you need to achieve something is yourself. Believe, have faith and work tirelessly, that everything will come. It doesn't matter where you came from or where you are going. What lies ahead is more important than the past. Never give up. Stand up and fight,” wrote Topuria.

Finally, Ilia sent a message to Volkanovski, former champion and opponent in the UFC 298. Respectfully, the Spaniard thanked him for the opportunity for the confrontation.
“Thank you, Volkanovski. You were a tough opponent who made me even better. It was an honor to share the octagon with you”, he concluded.
Last weekend, Topuria stepped into the octagon for his biggest challenge as a professional in MMA. The athlete, who exuded confidence on the eve of the fight, did not disappoint and won the featherweight title with a devastating knockout in the second round, also maintaining his unbeaten record in the sport.
