After a gala performance at UFC Las Vegas 85, Renato Moicano He was forced to choose which path to follow in his journey through Ultimate: money or a belt. After demonstrating interest in facing Beneil Dariush, the Brazilian was provoked by Paddy Pimblett, currently unranked athlete. To the surprise of many, the fighter indicated his preference for facing the British star and explained his decision to give up on possible advancement in the rankings.
“I have a lot to gain (from facing Pimblett). He's a guy with almost three million followers, more than a million followers on YouTube, he's well-known. And I'm increasingly trying to establish my identity, the way I speak, my personality in MMA”, said Moicano in an interview with 'MMA Today'.

During his speech, the Brazilian highlighted paths that a possible victory over Pimblett would open up in his career.
“A guy like that sometimes gives better exposure than beating Dariush or a guy who is tough and doesn't have as much exposure. At the end of the day, the UFC is about exposure, it’s about brand building. It's winning Paddy Pimblett and becoming a star in MMA and then taking fights even harder to reach the belt one day”, he concluded.
Currently ranked 13th in the lightweight rankings (up to 70,3kg), Moicano achieved his second consecutive victory in the organization in his last fight. After accepting a duel against Pimblett, the Brazilian suggested that the confrontation be held at UFC 300, a historic event that will take place on April 13th. Despite the statement, Ultimate has not publicly commented on the matter to date.
