In preparation for the long-awaited clash against Paulo borrachinha No. UFC 298, Robert whittaker avoids being overwhelmed by concerns about the Brazilian's possible absence at the event. Despite the suspense regarding the contract signed by his rival, the Australian assured that he will be present in Anaheim, California, on February 17th.
“Not very (concerned). It's always very funny with contracts and contract signing. I didn't even realize it was like, a thing? 'I didn't sign it' or whatever. The UFC comes here and they say, 'Hey, do you want to fight X on this date,' and I say yes, right? When I say I'm looking for something, that's it. It doesn’t matter if I sign the contract today or two days before the fight, I said I’ll be there, that’s what I’ll do,” Whittaker told 'The MMA Hour'.

Comforted by the UFC's actions, Whittaker stressed that he was not worried about the second cancellation of the fight, due to the chance of facing another athlete in the Brazilian's place.
“Whether or not I was worried about it being cancelled, not really. Like other times, I fought with someone. The UFC would make me fight someone. And I think it's a good fight for him, I think it's a good fight for me; we are both top-notch middleweights, both trying to work our way back to the top of the food chain. I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t (appear)”, he concluded.
Scheduled for a crucial duel in the middleweight category (up to 83,9 kg), Whittaker and Borrachinha will face each other on February 17, at UFC 298. The Australian is currently looking to return to winning ways after suffering a tough knockout in his last appearance.
